ছেলে খেতে চেয়েছিল বলে মা নুডুলস রান্না করেছিলেন। কিন্তু এর আগেই ছেলে বাড়ি থেকে বের হয়ে নরসিংদীতে কোটা আন্দোলনে অংশ নেয়। সেখানে পুলিশের গুলিতে নিহত হয়ে লাশ হয়ে বাড়ি ফিরেন নরসিংদী শহীদ আসাদ কলেজের প্রাণিবিদ্যা বিভাগের তৃতীয় বর্ষের শিক্ষার্থী আমজাদ হোসেন (২৫)। ছেলের মৃত্যুর পর থেকে আজও মা দেলোয়ারা বেগম সন্তানের শোকে পাগল হয়ে আছেন। বাড়িতে কাউকে দেখতে পেলেই সন্তান কখন আসবে তা জানতে চান। তার জন্য রান্না করা নুডুলসের কথা বলছেন, একটু সম্বিৎ ফিরে পেলেই পাগলের মতো বিলাপ শুরু করছেন এ মা।

দেলোয়ারা বেগম কান্নাজড়িত কণ্ঠে জানান, গত ১৯ জুলাই দুপুরে মায়ের কাছে নুডুলস খেতে চায় আমজাদ। গোসল শেষে ঘরে ঢুকে সন্তান নুডুলস খাবে। এজন্য তিনি রান্না ঘরে ঢোকেন। তবে রান্না ঘর থেকে ফিরে এসে দেখেন আমজাদ বের হয়ে যাচ্ছে। মাকে জানায়, খেলার জন্য বন্ধু ফোন দিয়েছে, এখনি যেতে হবে। এ কথা বলে দ্রুত বের হয়ে যায় সে। তখনো মা জানতেন না, এটাই তার শেষ যাওয়া হবে। এরপর রাত ৯টায় খবর আসে আমজাদ পুলিশের গুলিতে নিহত হয়েছে। ওই দিন রাতে নরসিংদী ইটাখোলা হাইওয়ে পুলিশের সঙ্গে আন্দোলনকারীদের সঙ্গে সংঘর্ষ বাধে। এসময় আমজাদ বাড়ি ফিরার পথে মাথায় গুলিবিদ্ধ হন। তাকে উদ্ধার করে প্রথমে শিবপুর উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়। পরে সেখান থেকে জেলা হাসপাতালে নেওয়ার পথে তার মৃত্যু হয়।

এদিকে ছেলের মৃত্যুর ২৫ দিন পার হয়ে গেলেও এখনো নুডুলস খাবে বলে সন্তানের অপেক্ষায় রয়েছে মা দেলোয়ারা বেগম। আদরের সন্তানকে যে আর ফিরবেনা তা কোনো মতেই মানতে পারছে না তিনি। বাড়িতে কাউকে দেখতে পেলেই আমজাদ কখন আসবে তা জানাতে চেয়ে বিলাপ করতে থাকেন মা দেলোয়ারা বেগম।

নরসিংদীর পলাশ উপজেলার গজারিয়া ইউনিয়নের রামপুর গ্রামের কৃষক আরমান মিয়ার তিন ছেলে দুই মেয়ের মধ্যে আমজাদ হোসেন দ্বিতীয়। অভাবের সংসারে সন্তানকে লেখাপড়া করাতে অনেক সময় মা-বাবাকে অন্যের নিকট থেকে সহযোগিতা নিতে হয়েছে। স্বপ্ন ছিল ছেলে উচ্চশিক্ষা নিয়ে বড় হবে, মা বাবার শেষ সময়ে হাল ধরবে। তবে সেই স্বপ্ন সত্যি হওয়ার আগেই পুলিশের গুলিতে জীবন দিতে হলো তাকে।

উপজেলার গজারিয়া ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান জাকির হোসেন জানান, পরিবারটি অত্যন্ত গরিব। আমজাদ হোসেন একজন মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থী। আমরা পরিবারটির পাশে আছি। সরকারি যে কোনো সহযোগিতার জন্য আমি মাসিক আইনশৃঙ্খলা সভায় উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তাকে বিষয়টি অবহিত করেছি।

The boy had wanted to eat, so the mother had cooked noodles. But before that, the boy had left the house and gone to Narsingdi to take part in the quota movement. There, he was shot by police and returned home dead. Amzad Hossain, a 25-year-old student of the Zoology department of Narsingdi Shaheed Asad College, was killed. After the boy's death, his mother, Delowara Begum, has been insane with grief. Whenever she sees someone at home, she asks when her child will come. She talks about the noodles she cooked for him and bursts into tears like a madwoman.

Delowara Begum said in a tearful voice that on July 19, her son Amzad had asked her to cook noodles for him. After taking a bath, he was about to eat, so she went to the kitchen to cook. But when she returned, she saw Amzad leaving the house. He told her that his friends had called him to play and he had to go. He left quickly, and she didn't know that it would be his last departure. Later that night, at 9 pm, she received the news that Amzad had been shot by police. That night, there was a clash between protesters and police on the Itakhola highway in Narsingdi. Amzad was shot in the head while returning home. He was first taken to the Shibpur Upazila Health Complex and then to the district hospital, where he died.

Even after 25 days of her son's death, Delowara Begum is still waiting for Amzad to come and eat the noodles. She cannot accept that her beloved son will never return. Whenever she sees someone at home, she asks when Amzad will come and bursts into tears.

Amzad Hossain was the second of three sons and two daughters of Arman Miah, a farmer from Ramapur village in the Ghazaria Union of Palash Upazila in Narsingdi. Due to poverty, Amzad's parents had to seek help from others to educate their children. Their dream was that their son would receive higher education and support them in their old age. But before that dream could come true, Amzad was killed by police bullets.

Zakir Hossain, the chairman of the Ghazaria Union Parishad, said that Amzad's family is very poor. Amzad was a meritorious student, and they are standing by the family. He has informed the Upazila Executive Officer about the family's situation and requested government assistance at the monthly law and order meeting.
