‘আমার ছেলের কী অপরাধ ছিল? আমাকে কেন সন্তানহারা হতে হলো? আমি ছেলে হত্যার বিচার চাই।’ কাঁদতে কাঁদতে কথাগুলো বলছিলেন রাজধানী ঢাকার উত্তরায় ১৮ জুলাই মাথায় গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়ে মারা যাওয়া তরুণ মাহমুদুল হাসান ওরফে রিজভীর (২০) মা ফরিদা ইয়াসমিন। মাহমুদুল হাসানের বাড়ি নোয়াখালীর হাতিয়া পৌরসভার ১ নম্বর ওয়ার্ডের চর কৈলাশ এলাকায়। তবে তাঁর লাশ দাফন করা হয়েছে উপজেলার হরণী ইউনিয়নের মোহাম্মদপুর (বয়ারচর) গ্রামে অবস্থিত তাঁর নানার বাড়িতে। আজ শুক্রবার দুপুরে মোহাম্মদপুর গ্রামে কথা হয় ফরিদা ইয়াসমিনের সঙ্গে। তিনি প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, ১৮ জুলাই দুপুরে ছেলের সঙ্গে মুঠোফোনে কথা হয় তাঁর। ছেলে জানিয়েছিলেন, মেসে মাছ-তরকারি কিছুই নেই। তিন দিন ধরে মেস থেকে বের হতে পারছেন না। পরিস্থিতি দেখে সন্ধ্যায় নোয়াখালীর উদ্দেশে রওনা দেবেন। মুঠোফোনে কথা বলার কয়েক ঘণ্টা না যেতেই ছেলের এক সহপাঠী ফোন দিয়ে বলেন, মাহমুদুল অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়েছেন। ফরিদা ইয়াসমিন আরও বলেন, ‘আমি তো ছেলের অসুস্থতার কথা শুনে ঢাকায় ছুটে গিয়েছিলাম। গিয়ে দেখি, আমার ছেলের লাশ। আমি তো লাশ আনতে ঢাকা যাইনি। আমি তো গেছি ছেলেকে সুস্থ করতে। এখন আমি কীভাবে আমার ছেলেকে ছাড়া থাকব?’

‘What was my son's fault? Why did I have to lose my child? I want justice for my son's murder.’ These words were spoken by Farida Yasmin, mother ofMahmudul Hasan alias Rizvi, 20, who was shot dead in Uttara, Dhaka on July 18, as she wept. Mahmudul's house is in Char Kailash area of 1 No. Ward of Hatiya municipality in Noakhali. However, his body was buried in his grandfather's house in Mohammadpur (Boayarchar) village of Horine Union in the upazila. Today, on Friday afternoon, Farida Yasmin spoke to Prothom Alo in Mohammadpur village. She said that she had spoken to her son over the phone on July 18 at noon. Her son had informed her that there was no fish or meat in the mess and he had not been able to leave the mess for three days. Seeing the situation, she would leave for Noakhali in the evening. Just a few hours after talking on the phone, one of her son's classmates called and said that Mahmudul had fallen ill. Farida Yasmin further said, ‘I ran to Dhaka after hearing about my son's illness. When I arrived, I saw my son's dead body. I didn't go to Dhaka to bring back the dead body. I went to cure my son. Now, how can I live without my son?’
