২৫ বছরের তরুণ মামুন মিয়া ঢাকার সরকারি তিতুমীর কলেজের স্নাতকোত্তরের শিক্ষার্থী ছিলেন। পড়ালেখার পাশাপাশি ফ্রিল্যান্সার হিসেবে কাজ করতেন। চেয়েছিলেন ভালো আয় করে পরিবারের দারিদ্র্য ঘোচাবেন। দরিদ্র পরিবারের স্বপ্ন জয় করতে চাকরি নিয়ে ২২ আগস্ট মধ্য আমেরিকার দেশ বেলিজে যাওয়ার কথা ছিল তাঁর। ১৮ জুলাই দিবাগত রাত দুইটার দিকে রামপুরা ওয়াপদা রোড এলাকায় গুলিবিদ্ধ হন মামুন। বন্ধুরা তাঁকে উদ্ধার করে ঢাকার ন্যাশনাল ইনস্টিটিউট অব নিউরোসায়েন্স ও হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যান। পরদিন শুক্রবার বেলা ১১টার দিকে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় তিনি মারা যান। মামুন শরীয়তপুর সদর উপজেলার শৌলপাড়া ইউনিয়নের চরচিকন্দি গ্রামের আবদুল গনি মাদবরের ছেলে।

Mamun Mia, a 25-year-old youth, was a postgraduate student at Titumir College in Dhaka. He worked as a freelancer alongside his studies, aiming to overcome his family's poverty by earning a good income. He was set to travel to Belize, a country in Central America, on August 22 for a job to fulfill his dreams of overcoming poverty for his poor family. On the night of July 18, at around 2 am, Mamun was shot in the Rampura Wapda Road area. His friends rescued him and took him to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka. He died the next day, Friday, at around 11 am, while undergoing treatment. Mamun was the son of Abdul Gani Madbar from Char Chickendi village in Shaulpara Union of Sadar Upazila in Shariatpur.
