মায়ের স্বপ্ন ছিল, তার ছেলে রাজু একদিন তাকে সুস্থ করবে, বাবার কষ্ট লাঘব করতে তাকে পরিশ্রমের কাজ করতে দেবেন না। কিন্তু সেই স্বপ্ন পূরণের আগেই পুলিশের গুলিতে ঝরে গেলো মাগুরার তরুণ রাজু আহমেদের (২৬) জীবন। ১৯ জুলাই ২০২৪ ঢাকা মহম্মদপুর বাঁশখালী এলাকায় বৈষম্যবিরোধী ছাত্র আন্দোলনের সময় পুলিশ প্রথমে তার পায়ে গুলি করে, পরে বন্দুক ঠেকিয়ে পেটে গুলি করলে ঘটনাস্থলেই মারা যান রাজু। তার পরিবার বলছে, রাজু কোনো সহিংসতায় জড়িত ছিলেন না, তবুও তাকে নির্মমভাবে হত্যা করা হয়েছে। মাগুরা সদর উপজেলার আজমপুর গ্রামের মো. আবু কালাম মোল্লার ছেলে রাজু আহমেদ। তিন ভাইবোনের মধ্যে তিনি দ্বিতীয়। বড় ভাই বিদেশ ফেরত, আর ছোট বোন সিমা খাতুনের বিয়ে হয়েছে গ্রামেই। রাজু মাগুরা আদর্শ কলেজের দ্বিতীয় বর্ষের ছাত্র এবং মাগুরা সদর উপজেলার জগদল ইউনিয়নের ছাত্রদলের সক্রিয় সদস্য ছিলেন। সংসারের অভাব ঘোচাতে রাজু তিন মাস আগে পড়াশোনার পাশাপাশি রাজধানীর মোহাম্মদপুরের বাঁশবাড়ী এলাকায় জননী কুরিয়ার সার্ভিসে মাত্র ১২ হাজার টাকা বেতনে চাকরি নেন। রাজুর স্বপ্ন ছিল, একদিন তিনি বাবাকে বেশি পরিশ্রমের কাজ করতে দেবেন না, মায়ের উন্নত চিকিৎসার ব্যবস্থা করবেন। বিদেশে যাওয়ার স্বপ্নও দেখতেন তিনি। পাসপোর্ট তৈরি হয়ে গিয়েছিল, টাকা জমানোর চেষ্টা করছিলেন। কিন্তু সেই স্বপ্ন আর বাস্তবে রূপ নিতে পারল না। রাজুর মা নাসিমা খাতুন এক সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় গুরুতর আহত হন। তার হাঁটুর নিচে ৭টি প্লেট বসানো আছে। প্রতিদিনই ব্যথায় কষ্ট পান তিনি। রাজু সবসময় বলতেন, 'আম্মা, তোমার চিকিৎসা করাব। আব্বাকে আর পরের জমিতে কাজ করতে দেব না।' মৃত্যুর আগের দিন রাজু তার ছোট বোন সিমা খাতুনকে ফোন করে বলেন, 'আব্বাকে পাঁচ হাজার টাকা দে, বেতন পেলে দিয়ে দেব। আর বেতন পেলে আব্বাকে ৪০ দিনের চিল্লায় পাঠাব, কাজ করতে দেব না।' কিন্তু সেই বেতন আর হাতে পেলেন না রাজু। পরদিন রাজুর রক্তাক্ত নিথর দেহ বাড়ির দরজায় পৌঁছল। পরে মাগুরা সদর থানার ওসি ফোর্সসহ এসে হুমকি দিয়ে যায় মামলা না করার জন্য। এবং বলেন, মামলা করলেও কোনো লাভ হবে না। রাজুর পরিবার জানায়, তিনি সবসময় বলতেন, 'আমার মা ভালো হবে, আমার আব্বা কষ্ট করবে না।' কিন্তু এখন রাজুর মা শোকে পাথর। কাঁদতে কাঁদতে বলছিলেন, 'আমার ছেলেটা শুধু চাইত আমাদের ভালো রাখতে। ওর শেষ ইচ্ছাটাও পূরণ হলো না।' রাজুর বাবা মো. আবু কালাম মোল্লা ছেলের ছবি হাতে নিয়ে ফ্যালফ্যাল করে তাকিয়ে বলেন, 'আমার ছেলে সবসময় বলত, আব্বা তুমি কাজ করবা না। আজ ও নেই, আমি কেমনে থাকব?'

Raju Ahmed's mother had a dream that one day her son would make her well and not let his father work hard. But before that dream came true, Raju Ahmed, a 26-year-old young man from Magura, was shot dead by police bullets. On July 19, 2024, during an anti-discrimination student movement in the Bashkhali area of Mohammadpur in Dhaka, police first shot Raju in the leg and then shot him in the stomach with a rifle, killing him on the spot. His family says Raju was not involved in any violence, yet he was brutally murdered. Raju Ahmed was the son of Mohammad Abu Kalam Molla from Ajmpur village in Magura Sadar upazila. He was the second of three siblings. His elder brother is a expatriate, and his younger sister, Sima Khatun, is married in the village. Raju was a second-year student at Magura Adarsha College and an active member of the student league in the Jagdal Union of Magura Sadar upazila. To support his family, Raju took a job at a janitorial service in the Bashbari area of Mohammadpur in the capital, earning only 12,000 takas per month, while continuing his studies. Raju's dream was to make his father stop working hard and arrange better treatment for his mother. He also dreamed of going abroad. His passport was ready, and he was trying to save money. But he could not make his dreams come true. Raju's mother, Nasima Khatun, was severely injured in a road accident and has seven plates in her leg. She suffers from pain every day. Raju would always say, 'Mother, I will get you treated. I will not let father work on others' land.' The day before his death, Raju called his younger sister, Sima Khatun, and said, 'Give father 5,000 takas. I will give it back when I get my salary. And when I get my salary, I will send father on a 40-day leave, and he will not have to work.' But Raju did not get to see that salary. The next day, his blood-soaked dead body was brought to the family home. Later, the OC of Magura Sadar police station came with forces and threatened the family not to file a case, saying it would be of no use. Raju's family says he would always say, 'My mother will be well, my father will not suffer.' But now Raju's mother is stone-hearted with grief. Crying, she said, 'My son just wanted to make us well. His last wish was not fulfilled.' Raju's father, Mohammad Abu Kalam Molla, looked at his son's picture and said, 'My son would always say, "Father, you will not work." Now he is no more, how will I live?'
