এমদাদুল তাঁর মাকে প্রায়ই বলতেন, মা আমার যেন শহীদি মৃত্যু হয় এবং আমি যেন তোমার আগে মারা যাই। আমার আগে তুমি মারা গেলে আমি সেই কষ্ট সহ্য করতে পারবো না। মাকে আরো বলতেন, মা চিন্তা করো না, আমাদের কোন অভাব থাকবে না। দেখো, আমাদের অনেক টাকা হবে। এমদাদুল শহীদ হলেন, মায়ের আগে মারা গেলেন এবং মারা যাওয়ার পরে বিভিন্ন ব্যক্তি ও সংস্থা থেকে তার পরিবারের কাছে টাকাও আসতে লাগলো। এমদাদুলের সব চাওয়াকে যেন বিধাতা এভাবেই পূর্ণতা দিলেন। ২০ জুলাই ঢাকার উত্তর বাড্ডায় পুলিশের গুলিতে শহীদ হন মো: এমদাদুল হক (২৭)। তিনি পেশায় ছিলেন একজন গাড়ি চালক। শহীদ এমদাদুলের মামা মো: জালাল মোল্লা বলেন, ২০ জুলাই সকাল সাড়ে নয়টায় এমদাদুলের বন্ধু সজীব প্রথমে আমাকে ফোন দিয়ে ঘটনা জানায়। আন্দোলনরত অবস্থায় পুলিশের গুলি লেগে এমদাদুল শহিদ হয়েছে। ঘটনাস্থলেই মারা যায় সে। গুলি লাগার পর ওর বন্ধুরা মিলে ওকে উত্তর বাড্ডার এম জেড (প্রাইভেট) হাসপাতালে নিয়ে গিয়েছিল। কিন্তু তার আগেই সে মারা যায়। এর পরে সিরাজুল হক নামে এক আত্মীয়র মাধ্যমে এমদাদুলের মরদেহ ২০ জুলাই রাত তিনটায় বাড়িতে এসে পৌঁছায়। পরের দিন ২১ জুলাই সকালে স্থানীয় হাই স্কুল মাঠে জানাজার পরে পারিবারিক গোরস্থানে এমদাদুল হককে দাফন করা হয়। তিনি আরো বলেন, "আন্দোলনে গিয়ে এমদাদুল শহীদ হওয়ার কারণে জানাযার নামাজ যেন তাড়াতাড়ি সম্পন্ন হয় এবং যেন বেশি লোক সমাগম হতে না পারে এজন্য স্থানীয় আওয়ামী লীগ থেকে প্রচণ্ড চাপের মধ্যে ছিলাম।"

Emdadul became a martyr, died before his mother, and after his death, money started coming to his family from various individuals and organizations. It was as if God fulfilled all of Emdadul's wishes in this way. On July 20, Md. Emdadul Haque (27), a car driver by profession, was martyred in a police shooting in Uttar Badda, Dhaka. Md. Jalal Molla, uncle of the martyr Emdadul, said, "On July 20, at around 9:30 in the morning, Emdadul's friend Sajib first called me and informed me about the incident. Emdadul was martyred after being shot by the police while protesting. He died on the spot. After being shot, his friends took him to M Z (Private) Hospital in Uttar Badda. But he died before that. After this, Emdadul's body arrived home at 3 o'clock at night on July 20 through a relative named Sirajul Haque. The next day, on July 21, Emdadul Haque was buried in the family cemetery after the funeral at the local high school ground. He further said, "Due to Emdadul's martyrdom in the movement, we were under tremendous pressure from the local Awami League to complete the funeral prayers quickly and to prevent a large gathering of people."
