বাবা শহিদ হওয়ার পর থেকে ছেলে মেয়ে দুটি কিছু খেতে চায় না। কথাও বলে না ঠিকমতো। সব সময় মন খারাপ করে থাকে। মাঝে মাঝে বাবার কথা মনে করে কাঁদতে শুরু করে। ৫ আগস্ট সন্ধ্যা ৭ টার দিকে রাজধানীর মেরুল বাড্ডার সিরাজ মিয়া স্কুলের সামনে পুলিশের গুলিতে শহিদ হন আব্দুল জব্বার। তিনি মেরুল বাড্ডা এলকার বাসিন্দা ছিলেন। পরে ৬ আগস্ট বাদ আসর মহাখালিস্থ রহিম মেটাল কবরস্থানে তাকে দাফন করা হয়। শেখ হাসিনা’র পালানোর খবর শুনে বিকেলে আমার স্বামী বিজয় মিছিলে যায়। পরে বিকেল ৫ টার দিকে বাসায় ফিরে ছেলে-মেয়ের সাথে নাস্তা খেয়ে মাগরিবের নামাজ পড়তে বের হন। এর পরে তার আর কোন খোঁজ পাওয়া যাচ্ছিল না। ফোন বন্ধ পাচ্ছিলাম। রাত ১২ টা বেজে যায় খবর পাই না। তখন সবাই মিলে তাকে খুঁজতে বের হই। পরে বাসার নিচের একজন বলেন, ‘জব্বার ভাইয়ের শরীরে গুলি লাগছে সন্ধ্যা ৭ টার দিকে। তাকে ঢাকা মেডিকেলে নিয়ে গেছে।’ পরে আমরা ঢাকা মেডিকেলে গিয়ে অনেক খোঁজাখুজি করি। শেষপর্যন্ত পাই তার লাশ। জব্বারের পেটে গুলি লেগেছিল। পরে ঢাকা মেডিকেল থেকে লাশ নিয়ে আসি এবং ৬ আগস্ট বাদ মাগরিব জানাজা শেষে তাকে দাফন করা হয়। কারো কাছ থেকে কোন সহযোগিতা পেয়েছেন কি না জানতে চাইলে জব্বারের স্ত্রী বলেন, জুলাই ফাউন্ডেশন থেকে আমাদের সাথে যোগাযোগ করা হয়েছে। পাঁচ লাখ টাকা দ্রুতই দেবে বলে জানিয়েছে। এছাড়াও জামায়াতে ইসলামীর কাছ থেকে ২ লাখ টাকা পেয়েছি।

Since his father was martyred, Abdul Jabbar's children have lost their appetite and rarely speak. They are often in a melancholic mood and sometimes cry when remembering their father. On the evening of August 5th, at 7 PM, Abdul Jabbar was shot by the police in front of Siraj Mia School, Merul Badda, Dhaka. He was a resident of Merul Badda area. His funeral was held on August 6th at Rahim Metal Graveyard in Mohakhali after the Asr prayer. Abdul Jabbar had gone out for the victory rally after hearing of Sheikh Hasina’s escape. Later in the evening, after having dinner with his children, he went to offer Maghrib prayers. Afterward, his family could not reach him on his phone. At midnight, they started looking for him. A neighbor later informed them that Abdul Jabbar had been shot and was taken to Dhaka Medical. They found his body at Dhaka Medical, where he had been shot in the abdomen. Afterward, the family took the body and buried him after the Maghrib prayer on August 6th. His wife mentioned that July Foundation had contacted them and promised to provide five lakh Taka. Additionally, the Jamaat-e-Islami provided two lakh Taka as financial support.
