স্বৈরাচার পতনের আনন্দ মিছিলে গিয়ে লাশ হয়ে ফিরতে হবে, এমনটি কেউ কল্পনাও করেনি। বিজয়ের মিছিলেও যে হায়েনার দল নির্বিচারে গুলি চালাবে, তা ছিল সকলের ধারণার বাইরে। বিজয়োল্লাসের আনন্দঘন মুহূর্ত নিমেষেই বিষাদের বিষ ছড়িয়ে দিল ওরা। নির্মম বুলেট নিভিয়ে দিল টগবগে যুবক জাকিরের জীবনপ্রদীপ। গত ৫ আগস্ট বৈষম্যবিরোধী আন্দোলনের মুখে আওয়ামী লীগ সরকারের পতনের পর ঢাকার আদাবর এলাকায় আনন্দ মিছিলে যান ভোলার বোরহানউদ্দিন উপজেলার সাচরা ইউনিয়নের ৩ নম্বর ওয়ার্ডের মো. ইউনুস মালের ছেলে মো. জাকির হোসেন (২৬)। ওই দিন বিকেল ৩টার দিকে আদাবর থানার সামনে গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়ে গুরুতর আহত হন তিনি। পরে সঙ্গে থাকা বন্ধুরা তাকে উদ্ধার করে হাসপাতালে নেওয়ার পথে তার মৃত্যু হয়। মৃত্যুর ছয় মাসের বেশি সময় পেরিয়ে গেলেও এখনও ছেলের কথা ভুলতে পারছেন না তার বাবা-মা। সংসারের অন্যতম উপার্জনক্ষম ছেলেকে হারিয়ে বাকরুদ্ধ বাবা মো. ইউনুস ও মা ইয়ানুর বেগম। কিছুতেই থামছে না তাদের শোকের মাতম। শহীদ জাকির হোসেন ঢাকার আদাবর ১০ নম্বর সড়ক এলাকায় একটি থ্রিপিস কারখানায় অ্যাম্ব্রয়ডারির কাজ করতেন। অভাবের কারণে জাকির হোসেন পঞ্চম শ্রেণির পর পড়াশোনা বন্ধ করে দেন। পরিবারের সচ্ছলতার আশায় প্রায় ২০ বছর আগে তারা ঢাকা পাড়ি জমান। বাবা ইউনুস দিনমজুরের কাজ করতেন, আর মা ইয়ানুর বেগম মানুষের বাসায় কাজ করতেন। কঠোর পরিশ্রমের মধ্য দিয়ে সন্তানদের বড় করেছেন তারা। দুই ভাই মিলে যা আয় করতেন, তা দিয়ে নিজেদের সংসারের খরচের পাশাপাশি বাবা-মায়ের ভরণপোষণের জন্য টাকা পাঠাতেন। জাকির ও জাহিদের উপার্জনই ছিল বাবা-মায়ের একমাত্র অবলম্বন। গত ৩ আগস্ট সকালে মায়ের জন্য বিকাশের মাধ্যমে এক হাজার টাকা পাঠান জাকির। সেদিন তিনি মাকে বলেছিলেন, ‘মা, এক হাজার টাকা পাঠাইছি। ২০ তারিখে আবার টাকা পাঠাবো। ক’দিন এইটা দিয়ে চলো।’ এটিই ছিল মায়ের সঙ্গে তার শেষ কথা। মা ইয়ানুর বেগম বিলাপ করে বলেন, ‘বাবা বলছিল ২০ তারিখ টাকা পাঠাবে। কিন্তু ২০ তারিখের আগেই সে আমাদের ছেড়ে চলে গেল। এখন আমাদের কী হবে?’ ছেলের শোকে অসুস্থ বাবা বারবার মূর্ছা যাচ্ছেন। তিনি সরকারের কাছে ছেলে হত্যার বিচার ও সংসারের জন্য আর্থিক সহায়তার দাবি জানান। ক্ষুব্ধ মা বলেন, ‘আমার বুকের মানিককে যে হাসিনার হানাদার বাহিনী হত্যা করেছে, আমি জীবিত থাকতে সেই জালেমদের বিচার দেখে যেতে চাই।’ ইয়ানুর বেগম জানান, ছেলের মৃত্যুর পর জামায়াতে ইসলামীর পক্ষ থেকে কিছু সহায়তা পেলেও সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে কোনো অনুদান পাননি। ভোলার জেলা প্রশাসক মো. আজাদ জাহান বাসসকে বলেন, ‘জুলাই-আগস্টে নির্মমতার শিকার প্রতিটি পরিবারকে সরকার যথাযথভাবে মূল্যায়নের কার্যক্রম চালাচ্ছে। খুব দ্রুততম সময়ের মধ্যে তাদের কাছে সরকারের অনুদান পৌঁছানো হবে।’

After the fall of the Awami League government in the face of the anti-discrimination movement on August 5, Zakir Hossain, the son of Mohammad Yunus Molla of ward no. 3 of Sachra union in Borhanuddin upazila of Bhola, joined the procession in the Adabar area of Dhaka. On that day, around 3 pm, he was shot and seriously injured in front of Adabar police station. Later, his friends rescued him and took him to the hospital, where he died on the way. Even after six months of his death, his parents cannot forget their son. The family's other breadwinner, Zakir, was the only support for his parents, Yunus and Yanur Begum. Their sorrow has not subsided. Zakir Hossain was working in a three-piece factory in the Adabar area of Dhaka. Due to poverty, Zakir Hossain stopped studying after fifth grade. About 20 years ago, his family moved to Dhaka in the hope of a better life. His father, Yunus, worked as a day laborer, and his mother, Yanur Begum, worked as a housemaid. They raised their children through hard work. The two brothers, Zakir and Jahid, would send money to their parents for their expenses, apart from supporting their own family. Zakir and Jahid's income was the only support for their parents. On August 3, Zakir sent his mother Tk 1,000 through bKash. That day, he told his mother, "I have sent Tk 1,000. I will send more on the 20th. Manage with this for now." This was his last conversation with his mother. His mother, Yanur Begum, lamented, "My son said he would send money on the 20th. But before that, he left us. What will happen to us now?" His father, Yunus, often falls unconscious due to grief. He demanded justice for his son's murder and financial assistance for the family from the government. His mother said, "I want to see the trial of the tyrants who killed my son, the gem of my heart, during my lifetime." Yanur Begum said that after her son's death, they received some assistance from Jamaat-e-Islami but not from the government. Bhola District Administrator Md Azad Jahan Basunia said, "The government is evaluating each family affected by the atrocities in July and August. They will receive government assistance very soon."
